Why we exist
Most people meet this industry at the worst possible moment.
Most people meet this industry at the worst possible moment — a mortgage closing, a new baby, a diagnosis, a parent arriving from overseas. The pressure is on, the paperwork is dense, and the person across the table is often paid to move quickly. Decisions get made that nobody fully understands, then sit unexamined for the next twenty years.
Malay built Valentra to slow that down. It starts with a conversation, not a quote. We look at what you already hold — group benefits, an old policy, the mortgage insurance the bank added at closing — because most households are already paying for protection that does not line up with their actual risk. Then we go through the options that apply to you, including the ones we would not recommend, and why.
The work does not end at the application. Coverage that fit a two-income household with no children is the wrong coverage five years later. Your plan gets reviewed as your life changes, and it is the same phone number and the same person every time you call.
What we hold to
Four commitments, and you can hold us to all of them.
Plain language, always
If a term needs a glossary, we explain it out loud before it appears on a form. You should be able to explain your own coverage to your spouse.
The trade-offs, not just the upside
Every product excludes something. We tell you what, and what would have to happen for a claim to be denied.
No pressure, ever
There is no closing sequence here. If the honest answer is that you already have what you need, that is the answer you get.
A relationship, not a transaction
Your plan gets reviewed as life shifts, and Malay is the person your family deals with at claim time.

Who you will be working with
Financial guidance is personal. You should know exactly who you are dealing with.
I started Valentra Wealth because of how often I met people who were paying for protection they could not explain. They had a policy from a bank, a benefit through work, something a relative recommended years ago — and no idea what any of it would actually do on the day it mattered.
So I work the other way round. Before I recommend anything, I want to understand your household: who depends on your income, what you owe, what you already hold, and what you would want to happen if things went wrong. Then I explain the options that fit — including the ones I would not put you in, and why.
You will not be handed to a call centre or a junior. You deal with me, and I am the person your family calls at claim time.
What working together looks like
Four steps, and you can stop after any of them.
Step 01
A first conversation
Fifteen minutes. You tell us what you are trying to protect or plan for; we listen and ask about what you already have.
Step 02
A clear picture of your options
We come back with the strategies that actually apply to your situation, what each one costs, and where each one falls short.
Step 03
You choose, we handle the paperwork
You move ahead only with what makes sense. We manage the applications, the medical steps if any, and the follow-up.
Step 04
We review it as life changes
A move, a child, a new job, a paid-off mortgage. The plan gets checked against the life you are actually living.
Transparency
How we are paid
You do not pay Valentra Wealth a fee for the review, the research, or the time spent going through your options. When you decide to take out a policy, the insurer pays a commission on that policy — that is how the practice is funded.
We will tell you how compensation works on any specific product before you apply, and we will tell you when the product that fits you pays us less than the one that does not.
